Electrician’s Mate

This brandnew Victorinox Alox knife is a new model with a blade combination, which was never produced before. I call it Electrician’s Mate. It’s basically a First Mate with electrician’s blade instead of the pruning blade or if you like, it’s an Electrician plus with marlinspike instead of the awl.

The knife was produced in two colors. Blue and orange.

The blue shade of the frontscale is pretty like the standard blue shade used for some other Alox models, while the blue color of the backside scale is a bit darker. The difference of the shades is not big, but you can see it.

The blue knife fits into the blue marlinspike serie. The orange one fits into the yellow/orange serie of Electrician models with the black arrow on the back.

This special run includes 50 pieces in blue and 50 pieces in orange and is made by Victorinox in January 2013. Both knives have a serial number engraved. The blue one on the mainblade and the orange one on the Electrician’s blade, exactly like the other knives from the two mentioned series.

    Really nice limited alox.
I’m so glad I now have them as well.

  2. John says:

How are companies or individuals getting Victorinox to make these models? In such low numbers (100 units) too.
Are they just asking them to modify their “corporate gift items?”

    • Marsax says:

Yes, basically these were advertising knives without advertising on it. But only few people could order these spacial runs.
But it’s over now. Victorinox decided to restrict such special runs to standard models, standard colors and only with advertising on blade or back side scale.

        hmmm.
So if there’s a combination of tools you’d like, you basically have to go to the custom / Gray Market.
        i.e. Swissbianco / Syph007.

I’ve heard that Swissbianco has some of his models made for him by Victorinox. Like brown alox-handles for his Solo model?

It would’ve been nice to pick certain tools, two-tone scales with you’re own color choice and pay Victorinox to make ~50 models.

I saw that some special runs were made for specific forums.

But they’re done with customizing I guess.

I don’t see why Victorinox won’t take special orders and charge more.
Keep the customer happy so to speak.
