In August 2013 Victorinox launched a Limited Edition called “Black Ice“. This edition consists of a Classic, a Spartan and a Trekker.
The tools of these three knives carry a black coating. The coating is not black but somewhat of a dark gray. It’s similar to the coating used on the handle of the multitool Spirit Road Tour edition and on some of Victorinox watches.
The handles from Classic and Spartan are regular cellidor scales in camo design. The Trekker carries Nylon camo scales.
Each knife has an orange lanyard attached to the ring and the Spartan and the Trekker carries a tweezers with an orange head.
It’s a quite small serie of 2’000 Classic, 1’723 Spartan and 1’000 Trekker and was sold out very fast after the launch.
A new Alox model. It’s an Electrician DUO in orange. This tool combination is unique and it’s the first time Victorinox released this model. Basically it’s an Electrician but instaed of the awl this model carries a pruning blade. This model is the littel brother of the Electrician DUO plus released in 2011. It has a ring with an attached lanyard. Each knife is individually numbered on the electrician’s blade.
This special run comes in two color variants.
50 pieces have a red shield, a red arrow on the backside and a red lanyard attached to the ring.
The other 50 pieces have a black logo, a black arrow on the backside and a black lanyard attached to the ring.
Color comparison:
The orange color used for this Electrician DUO is a bit different from the orange used for other Alox. It’s similar to the shade of the orange Wilderness with black tools from 2010. It’s darker than the Electrician with red shield from 2012, but lighter than the Electrician’s Mate or the Electrician DUO plus. See last pictures.
A Pioneer in light green and light yellow with pink logo is a new special run made by Victorinox in August 2013.
This bicolor Pioneer comes in two variants. 50 pieces with an etching on the main blade and 50 pieces without etching. The etching shows peace symbols and the word PEACE. Each knife is numbered individually.
Color comparison:
The light green is similar to the “Apocalypse” green used by Swissbianco a few months ago. The light yellow used on the backside scale is similar to the front scale of the Electrician Solo from 2011. See last picture below.
This blue – red Pioneer 2223 was made by Victorinox in August 2013. It’s a special run of 150 pieces. The knife is dedicated to the King Chulalongkorn of Thailand (former Siam) and was ordered by a Thai knife enthusiast and is intended for Thai people.
The Victorinox logo in not silver as usual but pink.
The blade carries an etching with an Elephant and a picture of the King. The phrase between the pictures is the name of the King “Phra Chunlachomklao Chaoyuhua“.
The print on the engraving panel says “Rama V.“, which means 5th Generation.
An engraving on the backside of the blade shows the year 2556, which is in the Buddhist calendar 2013, and a serial number 123/150. (This knife is the 123rd out of a total of 150 pieces.)
The colors blue, red and pink as well as the Elephant are components of the Royal coat of arms of the Kingdom of Siam.
This is the 5th knife of a serie of Alox knives which were released in the last three years, all dedicated to the king of Siam/Thailand.
