Damast Outrider 2017

Im April 2017 hat Victorinox das neue Damast Messer für 2017 heraus gegeben.
Es handelt sich um ein ungewöhnliches Modell, das sonst nicht verkauft wird.
Ein Outrider ohne Holzsäge und ohne Korkenzieher.
Die Klinge besteht aus 115 lagigem “Odins Eye” Damast.
Die Schalen sind aus Epicurean, ein Holzfaser Material.
Die Seriennummer ist auf der rückseitigen Schalen eingraviert.
Es wurden wiederum nur 5000 Stück weltweit hergestellt.

In April 2017 Victorinox released the new Damascus knife for 2017.
It’s a unique model. A special Outrider without wood saw and without corkscrew.
The blade is made of “Odins Eye” Damascus in 115 layers.
The scales are made of Epicurean, a wood fiber material.
Each knife has a number engraved on the backside scale.
Only 5000 pieces were made.

Anfangs 2016 hat Victorinox ein neues Alox Modell auf den Markt gebracht. Es ist das Pioneer X mit Schere auf das viele Alox Fans schon seit vielen Jahren gewartet haben.

In 2016 Victorinox released a new Alox model the Pioneer X with scissors. Many Alox enthusiasts are very happy that this model was finally released.

Victorinox produzierte das neue Pioneer X vorerst nur in der Standardfarbe Silber. Doch bald erschien das Damast Messer 2016. Ein Pioneer X mit hellgrauen Schalen und einer Damastklinge.

Die Facebook Gruppe Victorinox Freunde konnte dann ein Pioneeer X in schwarz bestellen. Das erste farbige Pioneer X.

Ein deutscher Messershop reagierte am Schnellsten und bestellte das neue Pioneer X in den Standardfarben rot, blau, grün und schwarz.

Im Herbst folgten dann blaue, rote und grüne mit Klingenätzungen von Messerforen.

Man darf gespannt sein in welchen Farben das Pioneer X in Zukunft noch erscheinen wird.

Victorinox started with the standard silver scales. But soon the new Damascus 2016 knive followed. It’s the Pioneer X with Damascus blade and gray scales. Then a facebook group ordered the first colored Pioneer X in black. A german knifeshop then ordered the Pioneer X in the standard colors red, blue, green and black.

In autumn, blue, red and green followed with blade engravings from knife forums.

It will be interesting to see in what colors the Pioneer X will appear in the future.

Im April 2016 hat Victorinox ein neues Damast Messer auf den Markt gebracht. Es ist ein Alox Pioneer X. Das ist das neue Alox Modell Pioneer mit Schere auf das viele Alox Fans schon seit langem gewartet haben. Die Alox Schalen des Damast Messers sind in einem dezenten Grau gehalten. Die Auflage beträgt 5000 Stück und jedes Messer ist auf der Rückseite auf dem Gravurfeld nummeriert.

Das letzte Foto zeigt einen Farbvergleich zwischen verschiedenen Alox Grautönen.

Damascus Spartan 2014

In November 2014 Victorinox launched a new collector’s knife. It’s this year’s Damascus edition and it’s a Spartan.

The main blade is made of Damascus steel (Damasteel). The handle is made of yew. The wood’s grain gives each knife a unique look.

This edition is limited to 5000 pieces. Each knife is serial numbered on the liner behind the corkskrew.

Damascus Explorer 2013

In December 2013 Victorinox launched a new collector’s knife. To honor the memory of Mr. Carl Elsener senior, who died this summer, Victorinox choosed for the this year’s Damascus edition the Explorer model.

The main blade is made of Damascus steel (Damasteel). The handle is made of oak wood and Mr. Elsener Sr.’s signature is laser engraved on the front scale. The oak wood’s grain, gives each knife a unique look.

This edition is limited to 7000 pieces. Each knife is serial numbered on the liner behind the corkskrew.

On some knives (I saw only a few and heard from other collectors) the edges of the wood scales are a bit rough. If the knife is used as an every day user, the edges should be sanded a bit to make the handle smooth. But if this knife is intended as a shelf queen, who cares.
